Tribunals, Boards & Federal Administrative Tribunals — Jurisdiction, Contact Information, Rules and Legislation

LAWFULL.ca | Ontario Legal Tribunal Directory | Research edition — October 2026

This directory covers Ontario provincial tribunals and federal tribunals that hear matters arising in Ontario. Each entry explains the tribunal’s jurisdiction, what it can hear, the governing legislation, how to find its procedural rules, and where to contact it.

A tribunal’s Toronto or Ottawa mailing address does not necessarily mean it conducts in-person hearings there.

Many proceedings take place remotely.

Federal tribunals and commissions serving Ontario

Federal tribunals generally have national jurisdiction, even when they have a Toronto or Ottawa office. Where their statistics are national, I identify them as national rather than presenting them as Ontario-only filing counts.

The IRB is one of the most important federal administrative adjudicative bodies for Ontario residents.

It has four divisions: the Refugee Protection Division, Refugee Appeal Division, Immigration Division and Immigration Appeal Division.
